According to foreign media reports, a few hundred years old street lamps in central London will be replaced with LED light sources in the next few weeks, officially entering the 21st century.
These historic lampposts are located in the shopping and business district along Tottenham Court Road. The area is undergoing an upgraded infrastructure, so these poles will be repaired and upgraded with energy-efficient LED modules installed.
The repair of street lighting columns was undertaken by McCann, a civil and electrical engineering company in Nottingham, including the removal of each column, the installation of new stiffeners, the repair of defects, the replacement of lampshades and lamps, and the repainting of the lampposts to restore their previous glory.
